Today, we had a picnic on Jack’s car seat blanket. The food was a little woody, but I didn’t think the chef would appreciate my comments. Jack snacked on a plastic toy ring and watched us pretend to eat.

Teething
sucks! At least for this poor little guy. He’s having an especially rough go of it getting his first two teeth at the exact same time. Today was the day of 3 ruined outfits (via diaper explosions.) Since Lauren was napping down below and the bathtub is loud, Jack got his first sink bath today. He didn’t seem to mind much. He was very excited to chew on the spoon while I dumped warm water on him and scrubbed his nether-regions.
Here’s a little beanitude love too.

When did my baby grow up?
I asked myself that question when I saw the picture above after taking if off my camera (no I don’t pay attention to what I’m shooting, I just click and frame and click and re-compose and hope for the best. LOL!) She looks like such a bug girl here. I don’t know if it’s just her posture or maybe it’s the knowing look in her eyes (“More pictures mom?”) There is just something about this one that I can’t put my finger on, but it makes me sad on the inside.
On the bright side, we played a few games of Hi Ho Cherry Oh and she didn’t freak out when she lost. We’re working on being happy for the winner, even if we’re sad that we lost.
Jack is 8 months old
I just love the long stream of drool coming out of his mouth in the last one. Jack was 8 months old on Tuesday, but since I take his weekly photo on Tuesdays I held off on this one until today. I’m also excited to announce:
Jack is sprouting not 1, but 2 TEETH!! I can’t wait to see his toothy grin once they pop up above the surface. He’s been working on these bad boys for awhile now, I’m hoping they’ll both be above the surface and showing by next week at this time. Photos of sprouting pearly whites to come, stay tuned.
Beach day
Today, was beach day for Lauren at school. She was super excited to play in summery clothes and wear sandals. I think this kiddo is as ready for summer as this mama is.

Blueberry tongue & curls
Lauren had some blueberries tonight and was excited to show off her blue mouth and tongue afterward. You can’t see it, but Jack is in his high chair in the background trying to get into the picture too.
Here’s a quick pic of Jack’s hair after his bath. What do you think? Do I have any hope for curls here or what? I’m thinking probably not.

Tuesday/35 Weeks
Both of the children were happy to be home. We spent pretty much all of yesterday driving home from Duluth in the horrible horrible storm. It was a dumb move and we were very lucky to make it home safely. For his 35 week picture, Jack is modeling a sweater knit for him by grandma Pat. I too wore my sweater that matches it (a coincidence) and planned to take a matching pic but he had a messy diaper take out this outfit and then a giant messy burp take out his next one. At that point, I said forget it.

Sunday in Duluth
Today we visited the ever faithful gato. He is almost 19 years old (or already is?) and will most likely no longer be with us by the time we visit Duluth again. Poor kitty!
We also had lunch at Kev’s favorite chain restaurant; Texas Roadhouse. Tiffany and Ryan joined us and helped to wrangle the children.
Later, we went to the Adventure Zone in Canal Park. Lauren had a blast and it was so much nicer and cleaner than the last time we went there (a couple of years ago already.)

Saturday in Duluth
Today, we spent some time visiting Georgie. In true Grandma Georgie fashion, she spoiled the children with gifts and spoiled us with food. It wouldn’t be a trip to visit Georgie if we didn’t have to roll ourselves out of the building because we ate waaay too much. Today was no exception and Lauren even got in on the action as evidenced by her chocolate moustache.

Friday in Duluth
Today was a fun day. I got to do a little shopping while the kids stayed behind with the grandparents and Kevin. I also got a real tour of John’s workshop and “we” made a couple of beautiful projects. Lauren even got to help varnish my new tealight holder while I was shopping. I came back to find Lauren sleeping on
Grandma Pat’s lap. Lauren didn’t take a nap when we laid her down to rest but fell asleep to “grandma’s magic fingers” (as she called them.)
We also visited with Grandpa Bob and Grandma Helen. Jack had a fun time and so did Lauren. Grandpa Bob was able to play and interact with both kiddos quite well. We’re very pleased to see his progress as it’s been 6 months since we last seen him. Then, Kev and I went out for dinner with our friends Gregg & Chayme. It’s a delicious tradition to go to our favorite Mexican restaurant with them every time we visit. I was excited to drink a margarita the size of my head.

Duluth-we made it
Well, we made it to Duluth for a visit. It is our first time with both kids (we came up in August with “just Jack” ™.
Jack doesn’t normally hang out without a shirt, but it was soaked in drool, so I just took it off.
Froggy girl
I also re-arranged Lauren’s bedroom. I love that she has lots of open space for playing now. Unfortunately, with the bed there it looks like there’s a tree growing out of her headboard, which was not my intent.
Jack says, “Hey!”
