Memorial Day
Lauren was up bright and early begging for somebody to go outside and play with her. Papa was the lucky one who got to take his coffee and head outside for some sun.
It was a fun and festive day!

Play set-Day II
Today was the day of all the piddly little things that need to be done (but take just as long as the building.) Lauren couldn’t resist a little playtime on it though. She’s jumping off where the slide needs to go.
Taking a break from the leveling, anchoring, and accessory adding for lunch and some carnival fun. Lauren desperately wanted to ride the ferris wheel last year at this time, but wasn’t quite big enough so we told her “Next year after you grow bigger.” Well we didn’t think she would think of it again, but boy did she. “When I grow big so I can ride the Ferris wheel” was a statement that came out of her mouth at least once a week (for a year!) Sometimes, it was 2-3 times a day. This girl has a steel trap for a memory and boy was she not going to let us forget it. So, with all the excitement over that first Ferris wheel ride, I really expected more of a spectacular reaction out of her.
Lauren rode a ton of rides, Jack enjoyed his first cotton candy experience and I was convinced to ride the “dizzy dragons” ride (which was a huge mistake because I get more and more motion sick every year.)
After the carnival and some lunch it was time to finish up the play set project. The slide and all the accessories were added and then it was time for a test drive.
The slide is super duper fast. Kevin and I had to give it a try for ourselves, even though we’re well over the weight limit (which is like 100 lbs Pffft!)
I knew it was going to be fast, so there aren’t any pictures of me landing in a heap and then rolling for safety.
It was a long project and we’re so happy it’s finished. Hopefully the kids can enjoy it for the next decade or so!

Construction time
My parent’s bought these shirts for the kiddo’s in Duluth last week. I thought they were hilarious and Lauren loves all thing Cat in the Hat, so it’s a win-win. Unfortunately, I was tweaking the settings on my camera and forgot to put them back where they belong so these pics are kind of blown out. Ooops, I still suck at this SLR stuff.
Kevin and I started work on the playset on Thursday night in our garage. We put together the twisty slide over several hours on Thursday night and Friday during naptime. I think it took about 5 hours total.
We were very luck to have some reinforcements on Saturday. My Dad, Kevin’s friend Jerry and “the Godfather” Phil came over and spent their entire day slaving away.
Lauren caused general mischief while all the building was going on.
Our first lilacs
Here are the very first blossoms from Jack’s lilac bush. At just over a year old, it bloomed. Unfortunately, Lauren’s well over 3 year old bush has never bloomed once. Here’s hoping next year is the year for both.

Last day of school
Jack wanted to be in the picture too.
Here’s one at pick up time. Lauren was saying goodbye to her friends Marleigh & Keana (and mommy’s friend Amy.) It was a good year!
