Today, I took Lauren along for her first salon pedicure (a late birthday treat.) I was very impressed with her, she did a great job (even though we were there for almost 2 hours.) She did the best she could with sitting still when she needed too and liked the cute chair (she told it storied, but didn’t like the massage feature.) I let her pick out the color for both of us (she wanted to match, of course.) We both also got some fun designs on our big toe and she got extra sparkles on the rest of her feet. It was a total deal for as long as we were there (and the pain in the butt it saved me from when I do her nails myself.) We may need to do it again sometime. :)

What the H!*#?
I try not to make a habit of allowing my children to jump into the pool fully clothed. However, it was a hot day and Jack decided he needed a dip. There was nothing to be done to stop him. Of course, Lauren had to follow suit. Aaaah well, what do you do? We also enjoyed a little campfire later after Jack went to bed. Too bad the mosquitoes didn’t follow his lead, they were terrible.

Princess Beanitude
Here is Lauren in some of her Birthday gift dress up clothes (on top of her target clearance dress up dress.) There was no Jackson bashing with her very heavy magic wand (luckily!)

Randoms
Today, was a day of randoms. Lauren putting on Jack’s shorts this morning. How is it that my 4 year old can fit into my son’s shorts better than he can (they’re 9m target brand shorts and he’s not fitting into them anymore.) There’s also a random of Jack enjoying his first homemade popsicle and Lauren trying on a new dress that came in the mail (Matilda Jane, natch.)
These photos are a reminder to check the white balance on my camera, LOL!

A very busy day
Today, was a day of many firsts for Lauren. We started off the day by her attending her first funeral. Not necessarily a wonderful first, but surely something she will experience again in her life. Today, was the day that my elementary music teacher was laid to rest. He had a long (er than expected) battle with pancreatic cancer. Not only was he my music teacher, but he was also my very first computer teacher during summer school (think mid 80’s on Apple IIe’s.) He was a wonderful man and it was a sad day. Lauren did amazing and I think it was a positive learning experience for her (we discussed many things prior to going and she was extremely respectful.) She also may have used up all her calm and good behavior in the morning because she was wild and crazy the rest of the day for her other first, x-rays at the dentist.

Cruisin’ Jack
Today, we learned that Jack loves Laurens old cozy coupe. We also learned that Lauren still loves it, but doesn’t fit in it as well as she used to.

I put the kids to work
Happy 4th Birthday, Lauren!
Today, we took Lauren to Nickelodeon Universe @ the Mall of America (sans Sprout) for a birthday extravaganza. This was her Disney world and boy did she love it! She doesn’t even really like the show Blue’s Clues but saw him while on a ride and was soooo excited to go give him a hug.
Lauren rode every ride (that she was able to) once and a few of them more than once. We really could have spent all day there, but had to get back to Jack.
Lauren enjoyed a birthday sundae at the Rainforest cafĂ© (and thought that the “thunderstorms” were very cool.)
I honestly expected a bigger reaction about meeting Dora, but she was fairly relaxed about it. Hmmm, now maybe if it had been Peppa Pig or one of the Gabba’s she would have given me the reaction I was hoping for?

The birthday party!
The birthday girl and boy!
Some yummy things…
Guess Who?
After lunch, it was time for cake. First, we lit the candles and sang to Lauren bean. Then the top came off and Jack had his turn.
What started out dainty enough, quickly devolved into fist fulls and face in the cake shenanigans.
“Nobody saw me do that, right?”
After videos and presents most people left and Jack took a sugar-induced coma. While Kevin and Grandma Pat cleaned up the disaster (yay!) Jess, Lauren and I enjoyed some outdoor time.
Lauren doesn’t fight fairly and it didn’t take too long at all for Jess to become soaked.
I’m very excited for Jess (and me!!) as she is moving to Mankato to get her Masters degree. I’m hoping she won’t be too incredibly busy and can spend a little time with us. She is my BFF and was MOH at our wedding.
The day ended with Jack having another go-round with his cake. He was so messy and crumbly that I just transferred him directly to the sink to be hosed off and then filled ‘er up for an impromptu bath.
