We decided to head over to Waseca and enjoy the warm weather before they close for the season!
Lauren is quite the adventurous water explorer now.
Jack enjoyed the shallow end and the little tyke waterslide.

Today, we met one of Lauren’s school friends at our new park for some playtime. Then, we went for a bike ride together around Benson Park. The temperature was only about 100 and Humid, but we made it.
It was about ten million degrees out, but we had a babysitter and it was the last day to vote for my friend Amy’s ice cream flavor, so we suffered through it! It wasn’t as much fun as last year, but I think that was due to the unbearable heat (with heat index it was like 105!)
Today, we met our friends at The Duluth Children’s museum for their annual bubble festival. We’re in the middle of a really horrible hot spell so it was less than pleasant outside. Luckily, we were able to mix the indoor and outdoor activities together at the bubble fest for maximum comfort. Oh, and a trip to the McDonalds play area afterward was also helpful. Lauren and Hannah loved being inside of the bubble.
Lauren also rocked at the climbing wall. She went up twice and made it pretty far. We were all pretty impressed with her skill and perseverance.
Today, was the 6 month check up for the kids. Bad news was also given out to Lauren today as she has a cavity! :( It’s in between her two back molars and will have to be taken care of.
So, Lauren had been asking us to take down her swing and put up the gymnastics rings for awhile now. Finally, Kevin got around to doing it and now they both enjoy swinging from them (and Lauren doing flips of course.)
Papa did the Mankato mud run for the 3rd year in a row today. But, before he could run the race, he had to play with the kids for a bit.
Here he is at the beginning of the 5k route.
Here he is after all the brutal obstacles and hills about to head into the 2nd mud pit. Lauren and Jack were up high on the Loyola spirit float for the best view.
Here he is after hosing the mud off. He ended up winning his age division (go DAD!)
Delicious ice cream was had later in the evening.
Today, I picked the kids up from a loooong weekend at Gaga and Papa’s house. Then, we checked out the Cottonwood county fair. It was pretty fun for the kids. We ate dinner at a little 50’s themed diner/trailer (lol!)
We saw farm equipment and the kids got to participate in a little show they had going on.
Of course, we all played a game or two of bingo and saw some animals.
Yum!!! Shakes from the dairy producers!!
Before After
We started at riverfront park and paddled to 7mile park. It was a fun time and I would totally do it again (although I would like to try a single kayak next time.)
Today, we took Lauren to Valleyfair for her birthday. Jack is at Gaga and Papa’s house for a few days (and Lauren will be joining him there tomorrow while Kevin and I enjoy a little free time.) Lauren grew about an inch since last fall when we went there
Lauren had a blast in the wave pool once the waves turned on.
Here is Lauren riding the wave one last time before a trip out to the van to dry off and change into warmer clothes.
Ice cream at 10pm, why not?
You can’t see Jackson, but he’s in there. Today, they built a fort under the coffee table and pretended to take a nap in it.
