A quick trip

Lauren was fine on Thanksgiving so we were able to make the trip to Sioux Falls for the weekend.  It was nice to spend with my family, cousins and Uncle while visiting my Grandpa in the hospital while he recovers from surgery.  Lauren especially enjoyed her time with her Cousin BJ (my cousin, technically her 1st cousin once removed.)  He just loves kids and gave her lots of attention. 

It was an exhausting weekend though.  We managed to sneak in a visit to see a light display and we also happened to buy Lauren’s 1st communion dress.  We were just going to check out a bridal shop as they carried a designer I like. It turned out that they quit carrying that designer (boo) but they were having a really great sample sale and Lauren ended up picking out her own dress (a very pretty Watters gown on sale for $25=SCORE!!)  I’m not sharing photos of it though, you’ll have to wait.

Lauren’s surgery

Of course it was quite blizzardy when we left this morning.  Thank God for great neighbors who took care of our driveway for us while we were gone.  I swear we got 8 inches of snow while we were gone.

Lauren had her adenoids removed today along with a turbinate reduction. We’ve been preparing for this surgery now for about a month.  We really wanted it done over the Thanksgiving holiday so she wouldn’t have to miss anymore school (you know after an 8 day cruise-5 of which were school days.)

She spent a long time in recovery as the anesthesia really did a number on her.  Unfortunately, she couldn’t keep anything down the rest of the day and spent most of it sleeping.  Here is Kevin carrying her down the stairs to watch some tv (the Dr. said no stairs the rest of the day so she liked being carried!)  He also said she should be as good as new tomorrow.  Here’s hoping, ya know, since it’s Thanksgiving and all!

Time to decorate

We started decorating early since Lauren will be having surgery next week.  Love my hoopty pre-lit tree that is only semi- pre-lit now.

Painting time

Here we are playing a quick game before I had to leave for the night.

Tonight, for MNO we did a wine and painting party.  But first, I had to get some of that yummy fresh baby smell from Baby Grace.

I’ve been looking for one of these “Band Jackets/Military Jackets” for years (since Stella McCartney did her line for gap in like 2008.)  finally, one I could afford came along so I snatched it up!  This is just toooooo cute (in my opinion!)

Tonight, we got to enjoy the Larson ice rink for the first time.  The kids had a blast (but boy is it windy up here, we need more trees STAT!)

This month for the 400 club, if the kids read at least 400 minutes outside of school they were allowed to dress up as their favorite story book character.  Lauren chose Hermione of course.  She even has her own time turner.

Bubye Trampoline

It was time to take down the trampoline for the year today.  We were sad to see it go, but the weather is going to start getting nasty soon.
