Our cruise

DSCN0236

was AMAZING!  Sign me up for another (seriously, can I go back again??)  Here are some random pics that didn’t end up on facebook, but I still felt like sharing.

Pedicure time

IMG_3511IMG_3514IMG_3512

Today, I took Lauren for some girl time before we leave on vacation tomorrow (bright and early!)  We both got pedicures and then shared some frozen yogurt.  Lauren really wanted rainbows on her toes, so I scoured google images looking for some ideas and let her pick which one she wanted.  They turned out beautifully and it’s such a fun mother/daughter activity!

If I had known you were coming…

DSCN0145DSCN0146DSCN0152

Today, Lauren and I baked a rhubarb cake for the kids and grandparents to enjoy while Kev and I are on vacation next week.  Lauren is an excellent helper (and beater licker!)

We even tried out the new mini tripod for my camera (but I didn’t take my height into consideration, ha!)

Kevin and Jack enjoyed some trampoline roughhousing.

Story time

Today, after story time at the library, there were treats.  Horray!  The kids both enjoyed a little computer time this week as well.

Another carnival

DSCN0122DSCN0121IMG_3498IMG_3499

Jack, the little stinker….did not listen when he was told it was time to get out of the bouncy house.  Poor mommy had to climb in after him so the other children in line could have their turn.  Daddy was gone again for this year’s carnival (just like last year, he is presenting at Secure 360.)

Happy (early) Mother’s day!

DSCN0105DSCN0113

We celebrated a week early since Kev and I will be on a plane to paradise next week on Mother’s day.  I even got my gift early (a new point and shoot digital camera that works underwater!) Thanks family, I can’t wait to try it out!

A quick visit

DSCN0099

Gaga and Papa made a quick visit to help me with some pre-cruise shopping and to see the kids before we leave next week.

The calm after the storm

DSCN0076DSCN0079

Here is a pic of Lauren modeling her FREE shoes.  We won them on facebook and I picked them out and picked them up yesterday in Windom.  We sized up so she can wear them in gym class next year (in school, tear!)  She’s in love with them (funny, maybe it’s because I don’t think she’s ever had a pair of athletic type shoes.  The closest thing she has had is a few pairs of Chuck Taylor all stars.)  Anyhow, today we went to the Library for story time.  The kids had a good time and they both loved the computer time afterward.

A hail of a day

DSCN0027DSCN0031

The day started out innocently enough.  I snapped this pic with my new camera (and underwater all-weather point and shoot) and mother’s day gift before we dropped Lauren off at school and Jack and I headed to Windom.

DSCN0032

Jack enjoyed some time with gaga and papa and great grandpa jack while I got my hair cut and colored (and fun bright red streaks put in it as well!)

After we got back to town, we picked up Lauren from school and enjoyed some time with the Larson’s in the hot hot sun.  Things quickly went downhill and the evening took a turn for the worse.  The kids and I ended up in the basement while the sirens blared.

I took this pic while I was checking the downspouts (and after realizing they weren’t in fact attached to the house I ran out to reattach them.  Lord knows we don’t need to deal with a flooded basement as well as the damage from the immense hail that was about to be pelting me in the head.)

DSCN0042

After it was all clear we went outside to inspect.  As Dane Cook would say, “come and look at my damage!”

DSCN0048DSCN0058

Since I don’t really know what to look for I just stood around and took some photos.  The downspouts were totally hammered but our steel siding fared pretty well (I think.)  All of our neighbors have vinyl siding (and a bunch of holes in that.)  I’m sure our roof and deck is toast, but I guess that’s for the insurance company to decide.

Then, the kids decided to play in the hail.

Hope you’re enjoying Washington D.C. Daddy, the weather sucks here!

Bubbles galore

IMG_3904IMG_3911

It seems that every year the Easter bunny needs to bring the Thompson children a new bubble machine.  This year the Easter bunny wised up and upgraded to a better machine.  Today was the first trial of the new machine and it’s seems to be living up to it’s name “gazillion bubbles.”  The children had a blast chasing the bubbles around even though it was windy (it’s always windy here.) Kevin is gone all of this week for his new job training.  So, while he’s off in Washington D.C. exploring all there is to know about whatever it is he does, we’re hanging out playing “pop pop” as Jackson calls it.  That boy sure loves to pop some bubbles.
