Jack gave Tommy a lift back from the park.  If he keeps this up maybe we can save some $$ on Drivers ed. someday?

Happy Easter!

After church it was time to find the Easter eggs.  Luckily, it was a GORGEOUS day outside!  Kevin and Papa had set up the trampoline the previous weekend (remember that list of things to-do) so we were able to enjoy that as well.  You’ll also notice that the play set has a much more substantial roof.  That was another item on the to-do list. It looks great and will be so much more durable than that dumb tarp that gets shredded in our torrential storms.

We enjoyed much of the day outside doing fun things with Gaga & Papa (including some yummy DQ as they just opened for the season!)

The finished room

I didn’t add anything to the room (except the giant bed and bedding.)  I actually purchased the bedding before he was born.  I had the matching crib bedding and set up the nursery with it.  I loved the look so much (and the paint job in that room) that I decided his big boy room should continue the theme.  So, I bought the full sized set once they clearanced it out from PBK.  My Dad tore apart the crib bumper (that had seen its better days) and turned a couple of the better pieced into throw pillows. Bam!  Oh, and I recycled the bed rail from Lauren’s bed, so the white doesn’t match, but it’s fine for now.  My favorite thing is actually the mobile. I just attached it to the wall as art instead of having it hang down.  I love it!  Jack’s room is definitely my favorite in the house décor wise (behind the laundry room and master bath.)

New clothes

Some new clothes came so we were trying them on trying to figure out which shoes to wear with them.  Yes! Red cowboy boots FTW!

The BIG BOY bed

Apparently a new BIG bed makes you so cool you need to wear shades!

Here they were tearing apart the crib/toddler bed to turn it into the full sized bed.  Oh the wonders of modern furniture!

Here he is, in his new big boy bed.  He absolutely loves it.  However, he’s not so sure about using the sheet and blanket and comforter.  He just wants his one blanket back.  I think he’ll get used to the idea of real bedding, it may take awhile though.  Here he is on the video monitor (which I haven’t used in ages but have a feeling it will become handy again.)  Thanks to my parents for coming up and helping with this little project (and a couple of others I had on the list.)

Bubble fun

It was a great day for bubble blowing after school today.  Kevin also returned home after he was basically gone for two weeks straight (yaaay!)

Here is my epic fail of the day.  I thought I could fit the box spring and the mattress in the back of the van.  Not true!

“Walking”

We went for a “walk” with the Larson’s tonight.  I say walk because Lauren rode her bike, Jack drove the gator and I walked.   Up above it was time for a walking break to run around the raised flower bed.

Shopping is hard work

Jack was so tired from shopping he needed to find a bed and take a rest.  HA!  Just kidding, we were actually shopping for his big boy bed.  Down below I was deciding which pair of free sheets to pick to match his bedding set (that I bought for a full sized bed before he was even born.)

A quick weekend…

AWAY!

We decided at the last minute to head up to the MOA for the day and ended up spending the night.  Kevin is heading into busy travel season and is going to be gone for the next two weeks (pretty much straight, just home for the weekends.) YUCK! 

The kids has a blast.  I think the MOA is their favorite place ever!

Then, it was time for some swimming!  We used hotwire for a “surprise” hotel and ended up at the Ramada right near the MOA.  It was just ok.  The pool and hot tub were big, which is a win for the kids.

I scored this super sweet (all ADIDAS) jersey and shorts for Jack (plus NEW birkenstock sandals) at the munchkin markets sale for less than $13 total! Saaaa-weet!
