11 months

IMG_6541IMG_6578

Little Jackson McQuinn isn’t very little anymore.  I don’t know where the past 11 months have gone, but he’s going to be 1 year old before we know it!

Baaaaaabies everywhere!

IMG_6450IMG_6460

I got to watch the Larson kiddos for a little while today so mama could run to the doctor.  I was super excited and nervous (that’s a lot of kids!)  Luckily, Thomas slept the entire time.  Jack, who was supposed to be napping, did not.  Lauren tried her best to keep Helen happy (which involved giving her every toy she could find, even her precious Monk.)  Helen was not very interested, however.  Lauren did ask to hold her (which is something she never asked to do with Jack, so maybe she’s more adjusted to life as a big sister now?)

Mark and Lauren pretty much entertained themselves leaving me to the two unhappy ones.  Boy was I relieved to see Phil come home.  Kudos to you, twin mamas (and I sure do know a lot of you!)  Meanwhile, I’m calling the clinic for a quick little surgery.

It’s probably time…

IMG_6379IMG_6390IMG_6421

to retire this outfit.  I’m just sad since it was my first every purchase from Naartjie and she loved it so much.  Yes, I know she has plenty of other outfits, I just get a little misty-eyed and irrational sometimes.

In other news, Jack’s lilac bush is already blooming.  Unfortunately, Lauren’s has yet to bloom once in all of it’s 3 years of being with us.  I wonder if it ever will.  Is it possible to have a defective lilac bush?

Thursday

IMG_6374

Here is Lauren’s before school picture.  She had a field trip to Sibley Park today.  They got to ride the bus there and everything.  She was extremely excited about her trip to “animal park” and has been talking about it nonstop all week long.

I tried to make it to the park to watch her play with her friends, but Jack had a check-up with his Ophthalmologist this morning so, unfortunately, by the time I got there they had just started to load up the bus for their return to school. :(  Luckily, Jack’s check-up was super and the Nevis (mole) on his pupil has not grown or changed and his vision is as it should be for a little one of his age.  When the Dr. said she was going to check Jack’s prescription I about had an accident in my pants.  I guess I never considered that this could impair his vision/require him to need glasses.  I’m so glad that all is well in that department.  Both Kevin and I were well into our 20’s before needing glasses (and I still don’t *need* them, they’re just helpful for distances) so I’m hoping the kiddos will luck out in the department as well.  I can’t imaging Jack keeping glasses on his face when he barely lets us keep ours on our faces.

Jack had to have his eyes dilated for the first time today.  He wasn’t at all bothered by the drops or in the way if affected his vision.  They gave me a pair of those disposable shades to try to put on him.  Boy was that a joke.  I tried to snap a pic of them on him, but it was FAIL!  I also had to turn off the flash on my P&S to take these as I didn’t want to hurt his eyes so sorry for the blurry picture, I just wanted a pic of his huge pupils.  I also had to let him have his paci once we were called back into the room as it was waaaay past his naptime and he was starting to let me know he didn’t appreciate it.  Overall, I’m glad everything is ok with his eyes and now we don’t need to go back for a year.

A HOT day!

IMG_6249IMG_6260IMG_6282

It was super warm out today so we enjoyed some sun and pool time.  I should preface this with the fact that I didn’t intend for Lauren to play in the pool in just her underwear, we don’t roll like that.  However, she slipped and fell in completely soaking her clothes.  Well after that, she wanted her clothes off, but still wanted to play in the water and I didn’t feel like dragging her home to put on her swimsuit as were playing with Mark at his house.  So, it was a compromise.  She actually wanted to take off ALL of her clothes, but that was out of the question.  Her long hair gave her the “adam and eve” look, covering up the parts that should be covered.  I just had to snap a couple of pictures, these pics won’t enlarge if you click on them and are watermarked since this is a public blog.  I just couldn’t NOT share these.

After they were done playing in the water we got dressed and had a little picnic outside.  Thanks for the great day!!

47 weeks

IMG_6355IMG_6350IMG_6356

I really intended to take Jack’s 47 week picture on Tuesday (AKA the right day) but it just didn’t happen.  So, now here it is.  He’s getting better about sitting in one spot, but that’s only because he’s discovered that his chair rocks and he’s too busy bouncing up and down trying to make it rock (instead of trying to climb off of the chair.

Jack meets the window

IMG_6193IMG_6194IMG_6196IMG_6197IMG_6199IMG_6200IMG_6201IMG_6202IMG_6222

Funniest pics ever!  Ok, not ever, but funniest pics I took today!  At least the windows were relatively clean (I had just cleaned the winter grime off of them last week.)  They were apparently quite delicious too, as he kept coming back for more. Eeeeew!

White pants?

IMG_6149IMG_6159

Yes, I bought my almost 4 year old white denim capri pants.  Am I a moron?  Yep!  I did buy this set (new with tags) at a consignment sale at a deep discount though, so I don’t feel too badly that she’s surely going to trash them.  As I type this they are sitting in a sink of bleach and water.  Unfortunately, I didn’t take into account how hard sand and water is to get out of something white.  She had a run in with her flooded sandbox (of which I can’t wait to get rid of, who would have thought a sandbox with a lid would have more flooding problems than one without a lid?)

I found their similar expressions in this one funny.  Lauren asked me to take a picture of her and Jack and then gave me *this* smile.  Stinker!

Another pleasant valley Sunday

It was finally a nice day outside.  A little breezy, but we’re used to that up here in the land-of-no-trees subdivision.  Lauren and Kev played a little golf and basketball.  Jack tried to eat the slide and the basketball (notice the slobber on it?)
