Tonight Tiny and Russ watched the kiddos so we could have dinner with the Maxwell’s (one of Kev’s former co-workers and good friend.) It was a great night. Then, it was happy hour with Kev’s famous home made Miami Vice.

The Ft. Worth Stockyards
It was a busy but fun day trip to the stockyards in Ft. Worth. We got to see a cattle drive and ride a horse and so much more. Everyone (except this mama) got a pair of cowboy boots (but since I wear the same size as Kev I’ll just steal his when I need to!)
When we got back to the van we knew it had been a hot day, but not Jamaica hot. Turns out it was 100 degrees. It’s a dry heat, lol!

NRH20
Today, we joined Kevin’s cousin Julia (Tiny & Russ’ daughter,) her husband Damon & their son Tanner at a local waterpark. There seem to be a ton of local waterparks to choose from and this one looked like a blast. They even had a water rollercoaster!! It was too much fun.
The wave pool was a ton of fun and there were a bunch more waterslides that I didn’t take photos of. It didn’t even feel that hot. :)

Swimming!
It was a gorgeous Texas afternoon spent by the pool today! The kids had a blast swimming and we enjoyed hanging out with Tiny, Russ and Wes!
Lauren enjoyed snorkeling for nothing. She’s finally got the hang of it though so we should be set for a real snorkel sometime soon!
Max & Maggie loved the pool as well. They enjoy playing frisbee and aren’t afraid to hop in the pool to collect their toy!
Keller, TX
Keller, Tx-our home for the next few days with Kevin’s Aunt Tiny and Uncle Russ. They were very generous to offer us a place to stay!! I took this cool pic while stopped at a stoplight. There sure are a lot of them in the DFW area. I thought it was a bit odd when Siri told us it was going to take 20 minutes-ish to drive 13 miles but she was pretty accurate.
Yum! Chick-fil-a! Best restaurant salad I’ve ever had the joy of eating!!

Everything is bigger in Texas!
….aaaaand we’re off!
We got up quite early (see above photo) this morning to make the drive to DFW! The kids (and I) went back to sleep for a bit. But, they were up and ready for some food by 7:00.
By 6pm we had arrived in the DFW metro and were en route to Mecca:
Holy crap! The 14ish hour drive was worth it for that meal alone. Why oh why can’t they have In-N-Out in MN?

VBS
This week both kids attended VBS. Since Jack just turned 4 he was able to attend for the first time. It had a World Cup Soccer theme and was fantastically done. The kids had a BLAST!!! I didn’t register them for VBS at our church as it happened the very first week school was out and Lauren was planning to attend a Chinese camp that week (but it was cancelled last minute.) So, when one of my friends posted about this VBS on facebook the kids jumped up and down. Tonight, was a little concert performance with a root beer float party afterward.
Jack may take after me in the exhibitionist during concert department (oops, sorry Mom & Dad!)
The pre-schoolers only sang two songs but they were very excited about them. The kids have been listening to their VBS cd all week so Kevin and I know the songs as well. Yaay!
We’ll miss you Elle!
Lauren made this all on her own (to go with the framed photo of the kids we gave them.) We had to say goodbye tonight since we’re leaving for vacation (surprise!) tomorrow bright and early. They were fantastic neighbors!
