Notice the green thing on the sailboat? Yeah, neither did I for about a week while we had been looking for it.

Bad sledding day
We had the brilliant idea to take the kids sledding at Sibley today. BAD IDEA! We didn’t realize it was so darn icy. Our first mistake was parking at the top of the hill. I sent Kevin and Lauren down first because I wasn’t sure how the conditions were and wanted them to try it out before Jack and I went down. It took them 30 minutes to climb back to the top with all of the ice. (I could have drove to the bottom to get them, but Kevin had the darn keys.)
Then, we decided to sled up by our house (where we usually go) and it was so blasted windy that it picked up our tube and carried it away. Kevin was unable to catch it on foot (after traipsing through a muddy field, he gave up.)
Here it is in a ravine 1/2 a mile down the road (and slashed to bits.) UG!

Another day of skiing
Today, there was a little bit of *actual* skiing involved. It is hard to “ski” at Mt. Kato considering it’s so short, but it’ll have to do for now considering we don’t live in Duluth anymore.
Lauren took her first ride on the chair lift today. I was a nervous wreck with worry, but fell like you just have to let them try new things, even if it makes you uncomfortable. Luckily, the instructor rode up with her and helped her the first time.

The 100th day
It is Lauren’s 100th day of school on Friday and they’re planning all sorts of fun that day. One of the projects we’re working on is a 100th day shirt. They’re supposed to make a shirt that has 100 things on it. What you do with it is up to you. So, I immediately opened up my laptop and we searched pinterest for some inspiration. There were tons of great ideas but Lauren decided on a 100 googly-eyed monster. Here she is modeling her shirt (a sparkly silver turtleneck from the target clearance section) and counting out her googly eyes of various sizes.
Here they are all laid out (mommy had to do the gluing as it was special fabric glue with special directions.)
We accessorized the shirt with matching silver sparkly tights, a black tutu, and some googly-eyed hair bows (that I also made.) See, I’m occasionally crafty!?

Happy Valentines day!
I just love the look Jack is giving Lauren in this pic.
Boy have they grown (and I don’t hang pajamas to dry, so they get baked/shrink in the dryer.)

Lauren’s first ski adventure
I was really nervous for Lauren’s first ski lesson today. She just started the “learn to ski” program at Mt. Kato and I’m hoping she’ll eventually love to ski as much as her parents. She was a little young for the class but they luckily allowed her to join anyway. This first day was very simple and focused on the basics and a little jaunt down a small incline. Next week, it’s the chair lift.

Yum
I made this finger jello today (well yesterday) for my Matilda Jane trunk show. It’s a busy day. Lauren had skating this morning, then the trunk show and then Kevin and I are going to the cities to celebrate my birthday. Should be fun!
