Waterpark weekend

 

After I got back from my race, it was time to pack up the family and head to the waterpark hotel in Waseca for a night.  We did a little back to school shopping and enjoyed the waterpark for the day.  (Yes, Kevin has a black eye.  No, I didn’t give it to him, LOL!  It’s from kung-fu/wrestling.  He took an elbow… I think.)

Jack was able to enjoy the tube waterslide (finally) during this visit. Boy oh boy, did he LOVE it. He was all “more more more” (in sign language since he doesn’t talk a ton yet.) Here’s a fun before/during/after sequence. I have to admit, I had as much fun as he did going down the slides.

Lauren loved the body slide this time.  Since she isn’t quite a reliable swimmer yet, we just stood at the bottom to help her swim to the steps.

I love my shoes.  They are fun, fit perfectly and even glow in the dark.  I will probably be sad when they wear out as I won’t be able to replace them (they’re selling on ebay for a fortune as collector items. UGH!)

Here are my results.  I was very pleased as I wanted to do a sub-60 and did it!

Women ROCK!

So, last summer a few of us in MOMS Club decided to start the couch to 5k program. Fast forward to this year we did the Get Lucky 7k on St. Pat’s and now we are doing the Women rock 10k.  Jaci was our “coach” and motivator (she ran an entire Marathon last fall but injured herself, so this was her first time back running as she was suffering from a ton of knee pain for a very long time.) 

Jamie and I just had to have our photo taken with the shirtless fire fighter.  I remember thinking to myself “where are these fantastic abs I have heard so much about?” when we walked up to him for the photo.  It wasn’t until afterward when I looked at it on my phone that I was impressed with the well defined 6-pack abs!

Haircut for the Beanitude

JC Penney does free back to school haircuts every August.  They even offered to do Jack’s (I wish I had known they would do him too, as we just had his hair cut about 2 weeks ago.)  I asked if they would also wash Lauren’s hair as I thought it would be a fun experience for her. 

She had about 2 inches cut off of the bottom and it looks so much healthier.  Now, if we could come up with a breakage solution her hair would be perfect.

Sleepy bean

I can’t even remember the situation but somehow Lauren ended up snuggling on my lap and falling asleep.  It was too sweet not to take a picture (and have Kevin take one of us both as well.)

The state fair!

Kevin and I made a trip up to the state fair today.  It was his first ever visit there and only my second (sadness considering we both grew up in Minnesota!)  We had a blast and ate our way through the festivities.  Unfortunately, a bunch of the pics are also on Kevin’s phone and it’s just a pain for me to get them off, so this is going to have to be enough.

There was a Beyonce  sighting (you know the giant metal chicken? I want one!) Kevin enjoyed a deep fried Twinkie (it was just ‘meh’ IMO!)

The Spam curds were surprisingly good (but I wouldn’t have been able to eat more than a handful.)  My wine slushy was delish and well deserved as the rain was kind of a bummer.

Time for a hoedown

Today, we went to the ECFE open house/concert/petting zoo.  Jack loved the alpaca (and all of the animals.) Lauren loved the concert and songs.

Hairstyles and a class list

We’ve been trying out different hairstyles lately trying to find some fun options for Lauren to wear to school.  Her hair is currently very very distracting to her (to the point of obsessing over it and freaking out over it tickling her) so I’m thinking we’ll want to keep it out of her way until this passes.  I think that’s a better option than cutting it off. 

So we got up bright and early this morning to head over to Lauren’s school and find out who her kindergarten teacher would be.  She was excited to discover that the teacher she had been with for kindergarten roundup, would also be her teacher for the school year (I think I was possibly MORE excited than she was, it was wonderful news!)

Baby Cate

Lauren was never really interested in holding Jack when he was a baby (I think she was just too young to really appreciate the littleness of a baby.)  Today, at our Matilda Jane trunk show, she took a bit of interest in baby Cate (my friend Mindy’s daughter.)  I couldn’t resist snapping a quick photo of her trying to entertain baby Cate with a block.

Last afternoon with Mia

Today, was our last afternoon with Mia (the daughter of our neighbor Tom.)  She has come over to play with Lauren on a few afternoons over the summer.  However, tomorrow she is leaving to head back home for the school year.  We sure will miss her.

Here’s a cute one of Jack getting a hair cut this evening.  I can’t believe that he looks like such a big boy when his hair is all styled up.
