Jess and I went out for a couple of drinks tonight.  Here I am sporting my cute new hat from her (now we match.)

Just Jack

IMG_2777IMG_2765IMG_2778

Here is some of “Just Jack,” taken while Lauren was at pre-school this morning.  He was playing computer and trying to do some somersaults.

We were at the mall yesterday and I was drawn into a store and ended up leaving with this outfit for Jack.  I just love all things nautical (as evidenced by his bedroom.)

Lauren’s first eye exam

IMG_3025IMG_3027

Today, we made the drive to Windom to have Lauren’s eyes examined by my good friend Michael.  Lauren didn’t pass her screening at the doctor and when we had asked her what time it was one evening she couldn’t read the numbers on the clock (from across the room.)  So, we were concerned and her pediatrician suggested an eye exam since she passed the screening in one eye and not the other.

I can’t believe it, but I forgot to take a picture of her with Michael (silly me!)  Anyhow, the exam went well and she is fine.  Her one eye was, in fact, weaker than the other (very slight correction.)  However, at this age they don’t typically do anything about it.  Michael said it should either correct itself or get worse to the point where she will need corrective lenses. (bummer, here’s hoping she’ll be like her mommy and daddy and not need glasses until her 20’s.)  We also made the trip to Windom a 2-fer and I got my hair cut (a lot!) and colored (new colors.) Fun times!

Collage time

Picnik collage3

Did you notice the new blog header (I thought it was in need of an update)?  In between hysterical weeping fits on Friday night, I tried to distract myself with these.  Hope you like them.

Shovelin’ Jack

IMG_3022IMG_3023

Here is Jack digging in the sensory table at ECFE.  I’m probably the worst ECFE employee ever (or else  Jack is really suffering from 2nd child syndrome) as this is his first class since baby massage when he was itty bitty.  I just couldn’t find a class that worked with our crazy schedule, that was in a convenient location, and with a teacher I actually wanted to take a class from.  LOL, I’m a bit picky!  He’s having a blast and seems to have gotten the hang of it right away.  It’s a non-separating class, but I think we’ve got the separation issues under control now too. Yaaay for Jackson (and yaay for this Mommy who gets a  free morning now on Monday’s from 9-11:30!!)  Today, I spent that time at the gym and then shoveling our driveway.  I guess both Mommy and Jack enjoyed some shovelin’ today.

My poor baby

IMAG0498IMAG0500

I can write about this now, as things are ok.  But when this was happening, I was a complete wreck.  Like I wrote on Thursday, after  Jack woke up from his nap he wouldn’t walk for about 20-30 minutes and then was ok and went about his normal business.  This morning, he was business as usual too.  But, after nap time, it was the same story again only worse.  He was actually limping if he would take a step (although he really really didn’t want to take the step.  He would only do it if we held his hands up and helped to support his weight.)  Needless to say we immediately took him in to see a dr.  The x-rays didn’t show anything so we were sent home without an answer.  Naturally, I spent the night freaking out and imagining what could be wrong with him (and of course I always go straight to the worst possible outcome.)  After a tear-filled night with little sleep Jack awoke in the morning and then proceeded to jump up and down in his crib.  All was well (and has been since then.)  Of course, we will be following up with his regular doctor, but all is well for now.  I think the Thompson family needs to have a month of healthy bodies now to make up for all the sickness we’ve had thus far in 2012.

An off day

IMAG0491IMG_2743

Everything about Jack was a bit off today.  Lauren started gymnastics again today and he was extremely frustrated that he couldn’t go out there and play.  Nothing was working to distract him (not his favorite toy and not even a snack!)  Then, he woke up from his nap crabby and inconsolable.  He just sat in my lap and cried.  Then, once he calmed down he played for awhile and then refused to walk.  After about 20 minutes of me freaking out, he was back to walking again.  Weirdness I tell you!  Kevin has a sinus infection so I left them two at home to snuggle while Lauren and I went to enjoy open playtime at ECFE.

This picture is all kinds of wrong.  I worry for Lauren’s college years. :)

IMG_2746IMG_2751

We returned from open playtime to find this.  Daddy napping while Jack is wholly entertained by the iPod.  Great parenting, Kevin!  I suppose I shouldn’t complain though, Lauren and I were allowed out of the house without the crabby boys so it’s all good.

Oh! The cuteness.

IMG_2699IMG_2704IMG_2708IMG_2706

Holy cow, can you handle the cuteness?  I know I can’t!!  I love the way Jack looks in Lauren’s sunglasses and he thinks they’re just about the coolest things ever.

I ♥ ?

IMG_2670IMG_2675IMG_2677

These pics didn’t turn out quite how I had envisioned. The kids (well Lauren) loves to match her brother. When we saw these jammies at the Gap Kevin and I had a good laugh about who should have which pair. We thought it would be perfect. Boy were we wrong. Lauren threw a hissy fit that hers did not say I love mommy. Jack? Well, he didn’t really give a rip either way. He was happy to have a full belly, a fresh diaper and a clean warm body (as he just had a bath.)

Things were better with Lauren after a good night’s rest. Wish I could say the same for myself. Strep sucks! I’m so very thankful that Kevin was able to take a day off and then had a long weekend so I could suffer in peace instead of on kid duty.

Bright beanitude

IMG_2678IMG_2684

I’m so pleased I bought this outfit for Lauren.  I can’t get over the fun and funkiness of it.  She loves it too which is a plus as she is starting to have an opinion about what she wears (really?)

Happy Birthday, Baby Stella!

IMG_2664IMG_2665

IMG_2666

Yesterday, Lauren informed me that today would be baby Stella’s 3rd birthday (not really much of a baby anymore, huh?)  She was very concerned with making a cake and having a real birthday party for her.  She was also quite concerned with what the theme of her party would be and what gifts she would be getting.  When I told Lauren that Stella would probably just have a plain non-themed birthday party, she was quite outraged.  She didn’t think it was fair that her and Jack have had fun themed parties and that Stella would be missing out.  :) Anyhow, we decided to have a rainbow themed party for Stella and made her a rainbow cake this morning.

IMG_2668

Next time I do a rainbow cake I’ll be sure to put my least favorite color down in the pan first as it doesn’t get as much space once you add in the other colors.  Overall, Lauren was pleased with Stella’s birthday party and all went well.  Don’t worry if you missed the invite, it was a very exclusive event.

Wake up sleepy bean

Lauren fell asleep right before dinner tonight.

Prep work

IMG_2619IMG_2649IMG_2645

Since I only use my Photoshop program about once a year around valentines day time, I have to start my prep work early (so I can remember how to do things.)  Here are a couple of cute ones (and one not so cute) in contention for this years valentine.  I’ve already decided what theme we’re going to go with (thanks pinterest!)

Goodbye Christmas

IMG_2569IMG_2599IMG_2582

IMG_2605

Today, it was time to say goodbye to the Christmas décor.  Let me just tell you that the giant 9 foot tree with a go-jillion bulbs comes down much much much quicker than it goes up.  Lauren was happy to help for a few minutes before her rest time and we got all the bulbs off the tree in no time at all.  Until next year pretty tree…it was nice having you.
